NFDC associate member and UK hydraulic attachment rental specialist, Sandhurst, has introduced excavator mounted vibratory sheet piledrivers into its rental fleet, with piledrivers available to fit excavators from 5 to 45 tonnes.
The company claim the vibratory piledrivers are a cost effective solution to driving short piles into most ground conditions and, as a recent application in Newcastle proved, they can even be effective on a 3.5 tonne mini, with the correct set up.
Newcastle’s David Purvis Groundworks needed to drive 3.5 metre sheet piles to protect a trench within the British Engines building at Newcastle’s Quayside and had been recommended to Sandhurst for a suitable piledriver attachment. The overiding concern for the groundworks company was restricted height access within the building and so they needed a piledriver that could be fitted to their 3.5 tonne Cat mini excavator. The Cat mini cleared site access height-restrictions with only 50mm headroom to spare!
Sandhurst’s Newcastle depot manager, Brian Lohan, fitted and adjusted the pilediver to precisely match the flow and pressure of the Cat and to ensure effective pile driving. The Cat was just within the operating weight limit for the piledriver and the combination of Cat and piledriver performed perfectly – efficiently driving in the piles safely and shoring up the trench.
Sandhurst operates a Nationwide attachment rental service from its depots in Fife, Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham and London delivering and fitting hydraulic attachments daily to excavators used in the demolition, construction and related industries. Sandhurst offers a seamless service to its customers who know that they can rely on the same high standard from any Sandhurst depot anywhere in the country.
Included in Sandhurst’s hydraulic attachment fleet are:- hammers, shears, pulverisers, augers, segregator buckets, sorting and handling grapples, rippers, road planers, compactors, crusher buckets, riddle buckets, combination cutters, circular and square pile cutters and vibrating sheet pile drivers. |
